TOKYO FASHION STORE PHOTOS: GOTH SWEET LOLITA PUNK & FAIRY KEI BOUTIQUES IN LAFORET, HARAJUKU. NILE PERCH, SEXY DYNAMITE LONDON, H.NAOTO.
It’s a good thing that all of you love Fairy Kei fashion — because girly 1980s pastels are taking over the streets! A new accessories store, B Be Bee, recently opened in Laforet Harajuku; it’s filled with airy fairy headbands, heart-dangle bracelets and other cute accents. Doesn’t the blue-haired mannequin remind you of DJ Kanon?
The Nile Perch fairy kei store was packed (it’s also in the basement of Laforet). Who can resist baby girl pop and lovery? Here are more photos of the boutique.
Laforet’s basement seems to be veering away from traditional Gothic Lolita, in favor of other Harajuku styles. In October, punk plaid took center stage.
h.NAOTO’s dresses, however, continue to impress. If I could only wear one brand for the rest of my life, it could very well be this one. One day, I’ll pick up one of these $220-350 beauties…
I’m a fan of Sexy Dynamite London’s bright red hats and punk jackets. What do you think of the evolution of these brands? Any predictions for future trends?
(Many more Gothic Lolita Punk store photos are posted in my Shopping Guide. LA coverage begins tomorrow… watch out!)

KYOTO THEMED RESTAURANT IN SHIBUYA, KYOUMACHI-KOI-SHIGURE. GOTH GROUP DINNER AT TRADITIONAL JAPANESE STYLE RESTAURANT, TOKYO.
The minute you think you’ve visited every Tokyo theme restaurant, a new one pops up. I had dinner with a group of Goths at 京町恋しぐれ / Kyoumachi-koi-shigure in Shibuya. It’s a traditional Kyoto-themed restaurant and belongs to the same group that operates Christon.
We enjoyed fruit shochu and artfully-presented modern versions of Kyoto cuisine — such as a veggie dish that we cooked in a basket, right at the table. Poor Buddha got some torture action: Mistress Maya put her fingers up his nose and Count de Sang gave his nip a twist!
The restaurant looked like old Kyoto, with paper-sliding doors, a traditional Japanese bridge, greenery and moody lighting. It may not be the wildest, weirdest theme restaurant in Japan, but it was well worth a visit. (For photos and stories of maid cafes and over 30 wacky theme restaurants, check out my new book.)
For us, this is a casual Goth look. Do you usually wear black or alternative clothes, even to dinners with friends?
LA is insane insane insane… tomorrow is my last day here. Wait until you see the photos and videos!!
