Sparklebee, the world’s largest licensee of Sanrio products, sent me a “small gift.” (Get it? Get it?) It wasn’t a mail bomb (one of my greatest fears), but a hot pink Hello Kitty hair straightener!
The straightener is pro quality, with an on/off switch, ceramic pads, and a heat level that goes to 10. Lemon ponders, “I’ve always wanted to Visual Kei a cat.” (Remember our Jrock hair video tutorial, which reveals the secret to VK perfection?
A hair straightener is a great Christmas gift for guys or gals, and the Hello Kitty design makes it both practical and fun.
What’s another good stocking stuffer? Makeup — especially glittery winter colors. On my Twitter, I mentioned using white eyeliner on the waterline (lower lid) to enlarge the eye shape. Another tip for the big-eyed effect: outlining above the crease with black eyeshadow and blending. Fake eyelashes are another must, although I merely applied mascara that day…
Here’s another cute gift idea… Zoo Uniform sent me an owl and a monkey t-shirt. The fabric is high-quality, and the print is quite the hoot. (Get it? I’m on a roll today…) Zoo Uniform is centered around 36 animal faces; a nice combination of kawaii and trendy. Only 25.00€ for Tshirts and 10.00€ for Panties.
Furry shrug: Put down your pitchforks. It’s faux fur. A gift from a Chinese auntie. I repeat: it’s not real!
Fuzzy beret: Nile Perch, Harajuku. It sparkles.

I think hair curlers are scarier; they’re more exposed. I have a Japanese curling iron that heats up very hot, and I’ve scalded myself on it.. >_<

Love the eyeliner! I do use the hair straightener a couple of times when I have pretty bad hair days, other than that though – I’m one of those people who appreciates my wavy hair haha.
AND OH MY GOD – is that the Basil’s distant cousin (who happens to be an owl) printed on the t-shirt? – I’m sure Basil had to give his look of shock at that!
For restaurants in west hollywood…well, do you like Thai food? I called a friend, who said that she would recommend the Yatai Asian Tapas Bar. I think it’s actually Japanese & Thai or something like that. And there are a couple of other sushi bars – if that interests you…but I hear they’re pretty…costly.
I haven’t heard the new album by Moi dix Mois – hopefully soon though. I did take a listen to the GazettE’s new single “PLEDGE.” Well I mean already heard the song PLEDGE, but now I took a listen to the B-sides for the auditory impression. And well…you know the “popish” mainstream thing I complained about…I don’t think it’ll ever go away. There’s too much of the R&B singing thing going on. One of their B-sides called: Voiceless Fear would have been perfect if the duo R&B singing didn’t make their appearance. I mean the intro was so gorgeous, but then it got sort of…weird.
Oh well,

Nice! I’ve never tried a straightener…my hair is naturally super straight, I’m usually just doing whatever I can to add volume, but I’ve seen some interesting styles created with them and it’s got me curious!
My hair is super straight too… the straightener wasn’t of much use for that haha. BUT you can do some very cool VK flips with a straightener… I’ll try!
