TOKYO DECADANCE @ HARAJUKU ELEPHANT CAFE: LOLITA GOTH CYBER CLUB, JAPAN PARTY PHOTOS.

Tokyo Decadance Japanese cybergoth party photos, nightlife, gothic parties in Japan. Weird Harajuku fashion.

Annnnnd then the Repo! gang moved on to Tokyo Decadance at Elephant Cafe in Harajuku. The party is, of course, the crossroads at which the style tribes meet. Gothic, Cyber, Lolita, Kawaii, Guro: all mixed up and slathered on thick. (My baby skeleton barrette is from Loft’s Halloween collection!)

Nobuyoshi Araki erotic art photographer at Tokyo Decadance Harajuku. Japanese artist, avantgarde Bjork collaborator. Crazy Japanese makeup and masks, cybergoth club fashion.

Who’s the pleasant fellow on the top left? None other than Nobuyoshi Araki, the Japanese photographer known for his vertiginous and erotic art. Araki’s performance that night involved self-piercings, eating worms and cockroaches, and doing unnatural things with his body and fire.

Victorian dolls, gothic lolita club fashion, lace bonnets and pirate eyepatches, little top hats, giant pink hair bow and decora eye makeup.

The female fashion: undead Victorian dolls, towering bows and bonnets, pirate eyepatches, leather and lace and Lolita.

Tokyo Decadance gothic lolita cyber nightclub, nightlife party in Japan Harajuku Elephant Cafe. Japanese trendy fashion, street snaps, spooky Goth makeup and latex masks, J-horror.

I love how the girls pump up their eyes with false eyelashes, dripping black eyeshadow, and cute gems and stickers.

Big anime head masks, sailor moon cosplay costume, anime cosplayers. Goth corsets and leather bracelets from Japanese cyber designers at Tokyo Decadance.

The Decadance regulars danced on the platform – to techno, EBM, synth – wearing giant anime head-masks. Around the corner, you could buy corsets and leather bracelets from indie designers.

Have you been to Tokyo Decadance, either in Japan or overseas? How does the fashion compare?

Be careful what you wish for… You wanted more Tokyo fashion and pop culture videos? You got em – and there’s a queue of YouTube silliness to be posted!

Two hours after landing in Tokyo, an undead Victorian Lolita doll (La Carmina) and her fellow spooks take over Wizard of the Opera, a Phantom-themed restaurant in Ikebukuro.

Descend into the catacombs to hear incongruous Disney songs! Prance around in the gilded bathrooms! Marvel at the Repo! the Genetic Opera posters! Pace the deserted streets of Harajuku to dance all night at Tokyo Decadance!

Wizard or Phantom of the Opera theme restaurant in Ikebukuro, Tokyo Japan. Repo! the Genetic Opera bar, crazy Japanese, wild weird themed dining and J-Goths, drag outfits.

You’ll see much more Tokyo dining madness in my book, Crazy Wacky Theme Restaurants (Mark Batty, July 2009). Look out for the ghoulish characters above in the restaurant photos!
