HAPPY BIRTHDAY LA CARMINA! FROM BLOG TO TWO BOOK DEALS, GOTH FASHION LINE.

The last four months of La Carmina’s existence have been some of the most exhilarating in her life. Sunshine equals party time, even for creatures of the night; I witnessed mad style at the Zombie Walk (where I dressed like a bloody Lolita) and Gothic: Dark Glamour exhibit opening at FIT. My favorite adventure: a personal tour of the Krazy! anime/manga installation led by Art Spiegelman (the cartoonist best known for Maus). Above are some outtakes with Count D.

I plunged into DIY design, and the results were immensely satisfying. A closet cleaning led to cut-up Goth/Punk tops inspired by h.NAOTO and Mar Jour.

Then, my blog went Technologic: I got a Sony DSLR-700 professional camera. (Above is the a rare shot of me wearing pants, from the Home Depot armband project.) After my fun experience shooting the Cooking Cute blowfish cheeseball video, I began to dabble in video editing (such as last week’s Goth Loli How-To video).

Rococo Marie Antoinette bed, Sweet Lolita in Baby the Stars Shine Bright dress, parasol, Kamikaze Girls actress.

I love to celebrate occasions, and if there isn’t an official one at hand, I’ll make one up! La Carmina’s thèmes de la semaine were particularly memorable: Rococo Week, Interior Design Week, and Book Week (where the winners of the Evil Kitty clothing giveaway were paw-picked by Basil Farrow).

And of course, my blog led directly to the books and fashion line that are now my life’s work… and happiness!

So here were are, one year later. Thanks, everyone, for being here with me!
