Cosplay insect pins, spider brooch and hair accessories on Gothic Lolita La Carmina. Goth hat.

Remember the handmade spider and cockroach brooches from the early days of my blog? Japanese idol and OCD blogger Shokotan is also fond of insect accessorization… but she takes creepy-crawly to a whole other level.

Bugs in hair. Shokotan, Japanese idol and blogger, cicada insect hair decorations, gross bug accessories. Weird Japanese fashion.
According to Pink Tentacle, the singer showed up at a recent concert with her hair covered in insect shells. The crowd went wild when she tossed the crispy cicada molts into the front row. Would you eat them? Would you wear them?

    I used to walk around with plastic spiders pinned to me and my clothes……hm……. you think a spider motif justacorp would go over well?

    I didn't know Shokotan did that.
    That makes herself look ugly with those full of insects…

    BTW, not being kawaii is said “kawaikunai” in Japanese, not “kawaiinai”.

    I'm casting my vote for super KAWAII!!!! The cicada-hair is the most uniquely adorable thing I've seen in a long time! Eeee! I've always loved bugs (I've had pet cockaroaches and pillbugs) and find cicada shells so delicate and fascinating… I love this! Particularly with brown hair — it looks so cute.

    Now I'm wondering if there's a way to spray shellac on a cicada shell to make it somewhat more durable for wear. Hmmmm…
