H.NAOTO AT JAPAN FASHION WEEK IN TOKYO.
The cherry blossoms are beginning to bloom, and so is fashion in Tokyo. Today marks the start of the sixth Japan Fashion Week, which runs until March 16. Forty-five brands, including ten newcomers, will be showing their fall collections. Once again, our beloved h.NAOTO will be storming the runway with Gothic Lolita, punk, and visual-oriented designs. In anticipation, I’ve compiled some photos from the 2008 Spring and Summer collection, which debuted in Tokyo last August.
Designer Naoto Hirooka must have had a hankering for Spider-Man, eh?
If you’re in Tokyo, definitely stop by h.NAOTO’s hEAVEN Harajuku Shop. You’ll be the first to get your hands on his fall collection!

GOTHIC LOLITA LIVING DOLL PHOTO SERIES.
I see so much Goth Loli photography that I’ve developed major ennui. (I’m sure many of you can relate.) But every so often, I’ll come across a self-portrait – almost always unconventional and provocative – that makes me do a double-take. Alli Jiang’s photography consistently has this effect. She kindly gave me permission to share her Living Doll photo series, for which she modelled and did the digital enhancing.
It’s a striking concept – a living Gothic Lolita doll. Alli drew on the ball-joints with eyeliner and eye shadow.
Alli wears a blouse and hair flower from Hong Kong store Spider. I posted about the Gothic Lolita brand here; I have a similar hair accessory from the same shop!
The photos in this series were taken in Xinghai Guobao, Dalian, China. In the first photo, the fantastical castle is in fact real.
You can see more stunning shots on Alli’s MySpace and Flickr (A.R. Silverfox)
