Have you ever wondered — who makes the jewelry in your favorite Gothic films and TV shows? Such as this bespoke ring for Johnny Depp’s Barnabas Collins character, in Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows?
Or this bespoke fish keyring and key pendant necklace for Eva Green’s Angelique Bouchard.
How about the Evil Queen collar for Charlize Theron in Snow White & The Hunstman? Accessories worn on True Blood?
The mastermind behind these designs… is London-based Stephen Einhorn. He’s known for his fine craftmanship that often has a dark flair, particularly his famed skull jewelry collection.
Stephen has a large range of Gothic-inspired jewelry available via his site. He sent me a ring from his Fang collection, which includes necklaces and cufflinks in fine materials (white gold, ruby).
To my cat’s pleasure, the ring arrived inside a black porcelain heart! We had to smash it open to retrieve the ring inside.
I got so many compliments when I wore the ring. The design is cutting-edge yet subtle, so you can pair it with any type of look.
My long, plaid gathered dress is gifted by Lip Service. They make it in halter and maxi styles too.
I braided up my hair, and clipped in a flower fascinator provided by Angelica Brigade.

How to fix frizzy, flat, boring hair! Hairstyle tutorial video: stylist’s tips to prevent bad hair days when traveling.

My talented stylist and colorist, Isolde Semple of Vancouver’s Avant Garde Hair, tackles three common hair problems that arise on the road.

1) Frizzy hair
Humidity makes hair stand on end. Fortunately, the frizz can be converted to curls. Isolde spritzed my hair with a small bottle of hairspray, and twisted segments around a curling iron.
2. Flat hair
Hair loses volume from changes in temperature and dozing on planes. However, you can regain texture with a few elastic bands. Starting with damp or dry hair, twist two-inch strands like ribbon and tie them in place (yes, you will look like a Who!). Leave overnight. The next day, take out the pieces and fluff to increase volume.
3. Boring hair
Accessories can dress up a hairstyle. Make a half-bun, and put on a hairband, bow, or barrette. If you don’t have decorations handy, try using flowers. (The clip above is actually a little boy’s bow tie!)
