PERVERSION GOTH INDUSTRIAL FETISH NIGHT AT EVIL CLUB EMPIRE IN LOS ANGELES.

December 4th: brunch at M Cafe, secret business meetings all day long, and then an interview with an LA Weekly reporter. Together, we went to Perversion a goth/industrial/fetish night at Evil Club Empire on Hollywood Blvd. I wore a black & white striped Atelier Pierrot dress, an h.NAOTO Gouk cardigan with long Vampyra sleeves, and old magenta floral tights. Woooo, woooo!

Red skulls on screen, computer graphics, colorful bright stage lighting and gothic girl. Perversion goth fetish industrial club night, nightclub party in LA, California.

Perversion comes in two flavors. The main room blasted industrial/EBM/noise; by midnight, the giant floor was wrenching with hammer-on-nail, herky-jerky dancing. In the back, two DJs spun “a nostalgic web of dark and mischievous tunes from the old school to the new” – from 80s Goth/darkwave (The Cure) to electro/synthpop (The Knife).

American Goth club fashion is much more casual than Tokyo Goth/Lolita. There were only a few standouts – how about 80s Goth hair, charcoal-smeared pants, and a vest with a hand-sewn glove and ring! Most of the industrial boys wore boring black Ts and studded-belted pants, but one person kept things interesting with duct tape over the nipples… and not much else.

Cybergoth couple, furry leg warmers fashion. Faux fur coat, alternative cyber style. Perversion goth fetish industrial club night, nightclub party in LA, California.

I wish I got her black faux-fur leg warmers in the left photo – they were spectacular! As for the cyber fashion at the club… well, it’s a far cry from Takuya Angel and DJ Sisen.

Black Peace Now meets Vivienne Westwood silver crown choker, cute emo girl with eyepatch and cherry bobbed hairstyle, tattooed arm. Perversion goth fetish industrial club night, nightclub party in LA, California.

Here’s a closeup of my Black Peace Now choker and a cybergoth’s peacock feather nail polish. The girl in the middle rocked the adorable trinity of bell skirt, eyepatch, and cherry bob.

“Come on baby, come on darling / Let me steal this moment from you now / Oh come on angel, come on come on darlin’ / Let’s exchange the experience oh…”

JAPANESE GOTH & LOLITA CLUB NIGHT QHOTO PHOTOS: ALAMODE TOKYO FASHION SHOW.

Aerobics headband and goth hat, esty millinery, cute spun hat and red hair with leopard prints. Alamode Night goth club event in Studio Cube 326, Tamachi, Tokyo Japan.
Goths and Lolitas are posers – in the best possible meaning of the word! At most of the Tokyo club nights I attended, I saw professional “photogs” clicking away at the fashion funeral procession. I couldn’t figure out where (or if) these images were posted online – until Candiman (the comic-grotesque rooster from The Dark Marchen) sent me the link to Qhoto, the site of live photographer NAO. Here I am with the scream opera performers at the last Alamode Night.
Japanese goths with theater makeup, spooky face paint. Dark Marchen gothic lolita rococo, scary horror Halloween stage performance. Alamode Night goth club event in Studio Cube 326, Tamachi, Tokyo Japan.
Candiman (center) wanted to emphasize that contrary to my prior report, his parrot was not mutilated. I concur – it was merely roughed up and bashed to the ground.
Pay des Fees indie gothic lolita designer fashion show. Acrobat, ballerina and clown fashion, big top style. Live show at Alamode Night goth club event organized by D's Valentine, Tokyo Japan.
Here are some portraits of the Pays des Fees models from the fashion show. The nostalgic Big Top theme – with nods to acrobats, ballerinas, and clowns – was a nice spin on Lolita design.
Japanese goth DJ, cute adorable gothic lolita girl from singing band Pudding Alamode. EBM industrial music club event and live concert at Studio Cube 326, Tamachi, Tokyo Japan.
Many of the DJs and performers wore Gothic Lolita or some variant thereof. One of the Pudding Alamode singers (middle) would have been lynched by certain… persons… for her short skirt and arm decals, but I think it’s an eye-catching look.
Goth makeup and hairstyles. Teletubbies scary Halloween costume, rings with eyeballs. Japanese gothic and lolita fashion, bible scans. Alamode Night goth club event in Studio Cube 326, Tamachi, Tokyo Japan.
Why so serious? The Japanese club kids are not. Playing dress-up is the name of the game in subculture style, isn’t it?

All of these portraits are from Qhoto, a pro site that debuted in 2006 but only made its way to Tokyo’s major Goth events this year. The gallery includes Design Festa, Chihiro Theatric Fire, Gothic Bar Heaven and other recent happenings. I’ll be sure to be posting more!
