Today’s blog post veers in the direction of “random”…
† How much do we love purikura, or Japanese sticker pictures? In Tokyo, the machines offer endless options for backgrounds and decorations (the ones below are from my recent trips). You can achieve the same effect on Puricute.com — simply upload a photo and smother it with kawaii, like I did above!
† Note that it’s a portrait of three generations… Grandma (Mia Farrow), mommy (La Carmina), and baby (Basil Farrow)!

Finally (I warned you this was a random post), I got new silicone contact lenses and what a difference! We too often neglect our eye health, so here are some tips for staying sharp:

† I highly recommend checking out latest contact lens technology. I switched to Coopervision Silicone Hydrogel monthly disposables, which are highly breathable (allowing more oxygen to come in) and made from a soft, flexible material (a relief for those with higher prescriptions).
† I saw a poster of damaged eyes and it freaked me out. Most of the disfigurations could have been avoided if only the wearer changed his contact fluid, threw out old lenses, and didn’t sleep with them on. Don’t make the same mistakes!
† Have you had an eye checkup in the past year or two? You may not notice a change in vision, but doctors will catch retinal tears and other problems before it’s too late.
† Take preventative action! Use proper lighting, wear sunglasses, and do daily eye exercises such as these.

What are your experiences with contact lenses and icky eyesight? Have you purikura-ed any photos on Puricute.com? Post the links to your photos in the comments — I’d love to see your customizations!

AROMALEIGH OPULENT LUSTRE EYE SHADOW COLLECTION. METALLIC MINERAL MAKEUP, SHIMMER EYESHADOWS & PASTEL BUTTERFLY HAT.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… Aromaleigh = genius. The independent company, loved for its gentle yet glam mineral makeup, sent me samples of the new Opulent Lustre eye collection. The shadows contain real metal powders and the effect is remarkable. One sweep of the brush and you’ve got shimmer! Glimmer!

The new Rococo metallics are perfect for a Fairy Kei-inspired look. I applied Dragonfly teal below my lids, Tamarind pink up to my brow, and Imperial purple along the eye crease. Black mascara on the upper lashes. To finish: Aromalegh’s clear white powder. The total effect is subtle yet fetching.

For a Harajuku spin, I added Daiso gem stickers. My vintage hat got a revamp with pastel butterflies and lace.

Aromaleigh Opulent Lustre makeup, metallic shimmery eyeshadows, mineral eyeshadow hypo-allergenic, Scottish Fold cat with pink mouse toy, metal powder makeup, how-to pastel eye shadow, pastel butterflies, lace hat, Japanese makeup tutorials

The Opulent collection is truly eye candy! You can see all of the shades and place an order from Aromaleigh’s website ($7.75, ships internationally).

Now I can’t wait to try out the new samples from the Gothic Lolita collection. Any suggestions for how to wear light pastel makeup?
