CUTE BENTO BOX LUNCH DEMO VIDEO. LIVE COOKING CHARABEN TUTORIAL AT NEW YORK BOOK SIGNING, JAPANESE BENTOS LESSON.

Japanese bento decoration book, CUTE BENTO BOX LUNCH DEMO VIDEO. LIVE COOKING CHARABEN TUTORIAL AT NEW YORK BOOK SIGNING, JAPANESE BENTOS LESSON, KID'S RECIPES COOKBOOK, charaben, best kid's cooking, fun quirky j-pop culture books, clown pierrot pointy silver hat, striped black and white costume Halloween.

My first NYC book signing for Cute Yummy Time went well enough that the store kindly invited me back — and on Halloween, too! (As if I need an excuse to wear spooky clothes for my events.) I am costumed as Pierrot, the classic French clown. The pointy hat is from Village Paper; I decorated it with skull stickers from Tokyu Hands. The panda’s a bit of a trompe d’oeil; it looks like a pendant but is actually a sticker from a Harajuku store.

Fun fact: I use Staedtler purple pens to sign my name.

To my surprise, as you can see in the video, the books sold out in 10 minutes! But I stuck around to demonstrate bento cutters, turning cheese and crackers into kawaii animals. (If you’re interested in my Cute Yummy Time cookbook, you may find out details and ordering info here.)

New York City, I will be back soon! I got some thrilling news today; I’ll let you know what’s up as soon as it’s set in stone. Maybe you can even be involved, dum dum dum…

Thanksgiving is almost upon us. What are you doing for the holiday? Eating, cooking? Maybe you can give the cute turkey dinner and pecan pie recipes in my cookbook a spin.

THE WORST JAPANESE B-MOVIE EVER MADE: YOUTUBE HORROR FILM, THE ABANDONED CURSE! GHOSTS, GLAM-ROCKERS, CROSS-DRESSERS & A GAY EMO BOY!

THE WORST JAPANESE B-MOVIE EVER MADE: YOUTUBE HORROR FILM, THE ABANDONED CURSE! GHOSTS, GLAM-ROCKERS, CROSS-DRESSERS & A GAY EMO BOY, cute japanese schoogirls, young teen Japan students in uniforms, funny costumes group photo of friends

Finally, it is here… “the movie of the year. The thing that everyone will talk about for the next couple of seconds!!” Shot it Tokyo last summer, The Abandoned Curse is the devilish vision of Yukiro Dravarious. Presenting a humor-meets-horror schlock film… starring yours truly as a gay emo boy!

This is quite possibly the worst B-movie ever made — and I say that with pride. Like our hero Ed Wood, we rounded up a spastic group of spooks, stayed up all night drinking and shooting on the fly… so who cares if the lighting goes from day to night in the same scene? I hope you can set aside a coffee break to watch our masterpiece!

Rolle, a gay (or merely emo?) boy, moves to a friendly neighborhood. He and his friend Morion wrangle with the over-sexed teacher Spetza and participate in a hedonistic glam rocker’s music video. But the townspeople suddenly start behaving weird…
Best moments: Teacher Spetza’s evil laughing and officer Kurt’s whooping, “Don’t let snakes bite you, kids!” “There’s nothing to see here!”

Rolle hears about the Curse of Iissel, a ghost who haunts the abandoned working place. Is it a tall tale, or is there someone out there? The boy throws a birthday party that ends in bloodshed…
Best moments: The hide-and-seek! “What’s bigger, the balloons or my boobs?”

Rolle and Morion drink tea with Youtju, the wacko Town Elder — and are attacked by the terrifying ghost!
Best moments: Rolle gets tied up and menaced by a kawaii schoolgirl.

What’s going on? Is there a deadly town conspiracy? Rolle discovers the truth and prepares for a showdown.
Best moments: The cackling Village Elder rolls down the hill. (No special effects — he did his own stunts!)

I’m awed at the creativity of my friends and how our artistic input came together: the special effects makeup, the original soundtrack, the script/directing/acting/editing. We’re eager to keep fooling around — and maybe next time, we can upgrade from the D-list to the C-list!

What did you think of The Abandoned Curse? Do you make grandiose art films with your friends? I’ll post behind-the-scenes stories and photos from the movie on this blog soon.
