V-fingers! Recently, I’ve been doing a lot of social media talks and panels (mainly about fashion blogging, travel, and video). Let’s flash-back to NYC, where I spoke at Mediabistro’s Social Curation Summit.

That evening, I met CamdenLock Clothing designer Tomomi at South Street Seaport for the Dances of Vice burlesque cruise.

In a cruel twist of fate, we Pirates were unable to find the boarding area. We ran around, searching in vain.

My partner and I drove to Oxford (in the UK), to go to a renaissance choral music concert (I’m a nerdy Goth :P) back when we were first dating, and the car broke down, so we missed the start of the concert. The concert was held in this beautiful original (medieval) Gothic chapel. It was cold and dark out, but the light coming out through the stained glass windows was BEAUTIFUL and we could still hear the choir from outside, so we stood outside the chapel, on the pavement of the street (sidewalk, to Americans), listening to the choir sing and cuddling each other to stay warm. I was wearing a long skirt, corset and shrug, so got quite cold. Eventually I got too cold, and we went to find somewhere warm, and ended up wandering into the Chequers historical pub, which is very medieval and Gothic inside!

I love the Yaffa Cafe! I went there once last year and the decor, as well as the food, is amazing.

I often get worked up over things not going according to plan. However, there was one time that ended up being a lot of fun. I was supposed to go to my first steampunk meet-up with my brother and our two friends. We were late and didn’t know that the meet-up had moved due to the venue being too loud. After wandering around downtown for a bit, we wound up going to a gourmet cupcake shop and a Turkish restaurant (where my brother got props for his silver glasses).
