THEME LOVE HOTELS IN USA: S&M BONDAGE BED! STRANGE RETRO FANTASY LOVE HOTEL, DON Q INN, DODGEVILLE, WISCONSIN.
Yarr! Thanks for your sweet support for my new Huffington Post Travel TV show.
In the first episode, which you can watch here, I explore the kitschy Don Q Inn in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Let me share behind-the-scenes images and stories from the shoot.
But first, as promised… here’s a photo of me in the “Mid-EVIL” fantasy room, writhing on the bondage bed!
The bed’s flanked by two knights, and a unicorn straight out of an LSD trip. Talk about a 1970s love shack.
The 21 theme rooms included a 2-story hot air balloon, Jungle, Caesar’s Palace, Teepee… and this swinging bed.
There’s only one word to describe the “Northern Lights” room. Cool.
I like to goof around and play (as you can see in the video). Here, I’m having a stand-off with “Mr Polar bear.”
Almost every bed had a mirror above it. Hmm, I wonder what why?
Have you ever sat on a Waterbed? I freaked out from the squishiness, and couldn’t get out! (Too bad this footage didn’t make the final cut.)
Hiding from the sheriff of Sherwood Forest. Previous guests carved their initials into the trunk of the tree. Only two adults are allowed to stay in each room… so I’m guessing strange stuff goes on behind closed doors.
The inn has an old Boeing jet in the back. Farrah Fawcett filmed a commercial here in the 1970s.
I felt like Wilma in the prehistoric Cave room. I was tempted to ring room service for an order of T-rex steak.
Please take a minute to view my “Coolhunting Wacky Wisconsin” travel show for Huff Post, which I researched, arranged and hosted. Without your support, I won’t be able to keep the series going… so every click, Like/Share and Tweet counts.
What’s the strangest hotel you’ve ever stayed at? And which room would you reserve at the Don Q? Decide for yourself by watching my Huff Post video.

Thanks – more from my travel show coming soon!
I saw the plane and realized I had been to the Don Q (although I didn’t stay there) on a NYC-to-Billings, MT-and-back motorcycle trip. I have pictures of the plane and the lobby fireplace surrounded by barbers chairs. Very cool. Oh, and FYI, the plane is not a jet. It has propellers.
Fun!
