PRO PHOTOSHOOT: GODDIVA UK TAFFETA PARTY DRESS & YIFAT AHARONI GOTHIC VICTORIAN ELEGANT CHOKER & LEATHER CUFF, LUI ANTINOUS PURSE.
Yesterday’s NYC Cute Yummy Time demo and book signing went swimmingly! I loved meeting you in person, and it made me happy to see how the children ate up the cute cheese and crackers. Photos to come and more book touring ahead…
I did a photoshoot with Vancouver-based pro photographer Jesse Winter Heading. It gave me a chance to showcase some new clothes and accessories, as well as old favorites that haven’t cropped up on this blog yet — such as this one-of-a-kind handcrafted purse by Lui Antinous. We met at a NYC club night years ago, and I wore his creation to the 2006 Grammy Awards!
Jesse came up with a stunning background effect that uses sprayed water mist. (You can see more on his work on Flickr — he does fantastic portraits and modelling shots.)
Goddiva UK kindly sent me a Pleated Taffeta Dress with knotted shoulder. Love the 80s style and fun cut. With a little black dress, there are endless possibilities for accessorising. How about lace gloves from Spider and red happy face boots from Italy? (I wish I could remember the brand name… they’re extremely comfy to walk in.)
Striped red armband: actually a sheer over the knee stocking from a Harajuku stall.
Red spiky bracelet: Camden Market, London
Platform stomper ankle boots: Kera Arena, from Closet Child Harajuku
Heart over the knee stockings: from a cheap Ikebukuro stall
Leopard print tights: from Hong Kong
Here’s a fun Japanese club-style variation: polka dot and purple mismatched tights, skull tinsel, London Underground Mary Janes. I think Mana-sama would approve of my sparkly blue and black lace fabric.
Here’s a closeup of an old lace choker attached by a silver crucifix chain to a cuff (I have a lot of old Goth items). And I can’t stop raving over Yifat Aharoni’s romantic Victorian Gothic jewelry. She sent me two gorgeous pieces from the tulip series. Beautifully made — and they make me feel like a Victorian aristocrat!

I don't mean to be disrespectful to you in any way, and you are a beautiful lady… but you totally look like Pete Burns in this shoot. Mid 90's – 00's. Just sayin.

Hahah I love Pete Burns… pre lip surgery! Totally a compliment! ;)
I’m so glad, because I didn’t in any way mean it as derogatory (some women don’t like being compared to men, even if its complimentary you know). But when I saw the photos, that’s the first thing that came to mind.
