“Blue, blue, my world is blue…” At the Moi dix Mois + Kozi “Deep Sanctuary” concert, so much is true.

Venue: Ebisu Liquidroom, Tokyo Japan. Date: July 19, 2009. Best outfit in the room: the Mana sama cosplayer in the wheelchair above!

I lucked out and got a $55 ticket at the door. Imagine hundreds of heavily-layered Lolitas, crammed into a lobby on a sweltering summer day… the photo above is a hint at the madness.

The concertgoers came early to browse merchandise. At 5pm, an announcer began calling out ticket numbers (the venue is standing room only, but those with better numbers got to enter first and grab the best spots). Kozi began playing around 6pm; in Japan, the concerts are almost always on time.

Many older fans have been following Mana around since the days of Malice Mizer. The woman on the far left came with her daughter. Now that’s a glowing example of growing up Gothic.

I may have mentioned before – Mana isn't massively popular in Japan any more. Gackt sells out stadium arenas, whereas this venue held a few hundred people. There were maybe 10-20 tickets available at the door this time…

That's a great video… it's funny how Mana has such an iconic look that everyone can look like him, if they do the proper hair and makeup!

Wow awesome! My fave outfit would have to go to the “twins” in the blue dresses and Mana-sama in the wheelchair. The dandys look cute as well ^_^

I think that’s hardly surprising, given their music and image. Gackt is much more mass marketable than Moi dix Mois or Kozi. Even Malice Mizer never sold out stadiums, although they were certainly popular, but again their most popular time was with Gackt when their music was quite poppy, rather than gothy.

Also, the capacity of LIQUIDROOM is ca.900. I know of several people who had to buy their tickets at the door because Lawson & Co didn’t have any left, so the concert was technically sold out (as was Osaka). That’s pretty normal for Moi dix Mois and very good for Kozi.

I love the outfit of the teen on the far right, all in black Moitie. Moitie is so gorgeous! I got an MMM skirt for about 10.000 yen in Closet Child… I miss Japan like crazy! My new housemate just went, but I doubt he went to any lolita shops. The blasphemy. I will have to guide him into the light.

Ahhh I love Closet Child so much… maybe 70-80% of my shopping takes place there! I don’t know why someone would buy a $100 jean skirt from Gap or Urban… when she can get a one-of-a-kind MMM one for the same price. That’s blasphemy!
