Kera magazine scans of punk hair, gothic lolita makeup, Japanese fashion magazines.
Talk about ridiculous: Kera Magazine is near-impossible to find in English-speaking countries, but it’s sold at most Japanese newsstands for a scant $5. Every time I visit Tokyo, I stagger back with a mile-high stack. Their features never fail to disappoint, especially in the Goth/Punk makeup department.

Here are some scans from the November 2008 issue. Kera shows us how to apply a hint of rocker-chick makeup for the daytime (Girly, Shiny, Mode, or Sexy Rock) – and then glam it up after sunset. Purple-black lips and eyelids instantly turn a fresh face into a Charlie’s Angels bad girl.

Kera gives hair the same Daily / Special treatment. The “before” hairstyles are already pretty wild, don’t you think?

Crazy Japanese nail art. Cute cupcake nailpolish and Gothic Lolita or Sweet Loli nails. Kera magazine scans and street snaps of Tokyo alternative fashion.
The same goes for the nail art. My favorites are the playing cards nails on the top right, and the chain-linked ones on the top left (which remind me of Vampire of Rose’s designs). Which Daily/Special looks would you rock?

    re:chelsea, omg me too, SO considering going down the pink hair route. how high-maintenance would a full head of bleached+Fudge-d magenta be day to day, though?!

    Hahaha, it's so funny, Hal is so like a mini-me, I always end up going back to the aqua hair, which I did a bit before New Years, along with wearing nail art I bought in Okadaya :)

    I love Hal, she's a great model. But Kera is easily available (along with the GLB) in Kinokuniya in Sydney – I just picked up my February copy this afternoon! (Maybe Sydney is ahead of other cities in this regard?) In the latest edition tho, Hal's gone back to blonde, and has long extensions in!

    Kinokuniya ROCKS and was a real perk of living in NYC. But it only has 9 American locations, mostly in Cali and NYC … not enough, if you ask me! :)

    Alas, Kera is definitely *not* sold at my local Japanese bookstore.

    A lot of these looks seem to be strongly influenced by “Nana,” though I would think that would be considered “so three years ago.”

    Yup! They sell Kera, GL Bible, Fruits, and other Tokyo alternative/street fashion magazines.

    I buy my mags at Amazon Japan. There are plenty of Kera scans floating online too ;)

    Haha, I can't wear nail art, my nails are so tiny, no drawings would fit on them.

    I think I would fall over dead to find a copy of any of those around where I live. but the nails, that's easy, chain link! the skulls are pretty darn cool too
