P.S. I’ve always been partial to Mana – I even made a KiSS doll of him! Speaking of which…you’d be an awesome one – your style would be great to mix and match! Would you approve? <3
Ahhh I’d love to see a doll version of me!
It should be ok… Jrock is still a niche in USA…
Did you see their Lollapalooza crowd? I’m scared! At least this isn’t NYC where kids camped out 3 days for D’espairsRay…

I think my favorite live concert experience would be the time I saw Ima Robot in 2002. It was one of the first concerts I ever went to, and Ima Robot wasn’t very well known yet. It was in the small side room used for local bands at Soma in San Diego. They rocked the place with such insane soul that it transformed the room into a magical land. I danced until I almost passed out. It was the first time I ever went to a performance that moved me like that, so it made a big impression on me. After the show, I jumped on stage and went back stage and hung out with the band. They were totally chill and treated 16 year old me like a real person, and took one of my band’s demos. Later I ran into the drummer of Ima Robot at one of their music video shoots and he remembered me. He put a RoMak & the Space Pirates sticker on his drum kit for the video shoot (“Creeps me Out”).

Whatu2019s the best live music performance youu2019ve ever attended, and why? nnHands down it’s still Dir en grey Inward Scream to me. It was my first time in a pit and the crowd was insane. I walked out feeling stunned, amazed, and almost spiritually connected to the entire experience. Honestly, it still sticks out in my mind as the concert that all things are compared to.nnI think my own words from my concert review probably say it best – “I still cannot feel the pinkie toe on my left foot (frotbite), my cheeks still feel extremely hot, and my jaw hurts like a bitch (from someone punching me on accident). My left arm, ribcage, lower back, and entire neck are all deeply bruised to the point that moving is extremely painful. I’m going to be black and blue from all of the abuse that I took being in the second row, but it was all well worth it. Hell… I’d gladly sacrifice this toe for all that happened. It’s like a dream come true and I cannot even begin to express how happy I am.”nnThe rest of my review is here.nnnPlease promote the contest in a blog or forum post, or link to it via Facebook, Twitter, Stumble or other social network.nhttp://twitter.com/cadkitten and http://twitter.com/degnm (I run the street team page and it posts to the myspace automatically from the twitter: myspace.com/degnm )

Favorite live performance? Easy: X JAPAN Reunion concert 2008 hands down!!rnrnI’ve been a huge fan of X Japan since 1998 after I heard the song “Forever Love” at the end of the “X” anime movie (by CLAMP). It was a devastating blow to find out the year that I found my favorite band was the same year that hide died. Regardless, I went hunting for X stuff with a passion and ended up with numerous VHS tapes which turned into DVDs, CDs and CD singles, as many hide plushie UFO catchers as I could get my hands on, various Necromance jewelry, X Japan zippos, and various incarnations of a hide cosplay for conventions (notably Anime Expo) throughout the years including a hand-painted hide prop guitar.rnrnWhat all this is trying to say is that I’ve been trying to follow X Japan for some time now so being lucky enough to attend the X Japan Reunion live was a dream come true. I spent almost the entirety of the concert crying because I was so moved and so incredibly happy to have such an opportunity to go see my favorite band play. All the hide clips and holograms and such were icing on the cake, really. It was amazing to pay homage to both X Japan and hide in one show. Add in the fact that I had FLOOR seating at Tokyo Dome not too far away from the stage (thank you JRock Revolution!) made the impact even more visceral and extreme. rnrnBecause of that I will remain eternally grateful and remember it as my favorite concert. I remember thinking at the time u2018if I should die right now at this very moment my life will have been completeu2019 which, I realize in retrospect, is a bit much but at the time it was just that intense.rnrnWith all that said Iu2019ve also been very lucky to have been able to visit the hide Museum while it was still open back in 2001, go to the 2008 10th Anniversary hide Memorial Summit as well as the recent Yokohama World Tour this past weekend. I also have tickets in hand for the X Japan Los Angeles tour. Yep, my fandom to this band remains strong and they will always be my u201cforever loveu201d.rnrnAnd joined your blog as well as shared your link on my FB account: http://www.facebook.com/darkviolette

I’ve been going to concerts for a VERY long time and I must say that IAMX and Apocalyptica are in my top list. I’ve seen both bands twice and the amount of high energy, dedication to their craft and stage presence is incredible. With IAMX you have the WHOLE band rocking out like crazy through the whole hour long set (combination of loving what they do and something special?) with no faltering and Apocalyptica’s cellists ALL HEADBANG WHILE PLAYING. How incredibly epic and metal is that?? They sit on massive black skull throne-like chairs too. nHowever, the concert that I now am looking forward to is XJAPAN. I was lucky enough to see X rehearse for the H.Naoto/Yoshiki Foundation event at AX so saw a glimpse of what a live performance would be like. *sigh*nnthanks for the contest carmina!! xoxo.nnhttp://twitter.com/sinfarquharnhttp://www.facebook.com/stefania

My absolute favorite concert I’ve ever been to was when I saw Nine Inch Nails for the last time last year. They were playing their final shows, and I was lucky enough to attend their first one in Los Angeles. They performed the entire album “The Downward Spiral” from front to back and played 10 more songs, including two Gary Numan covers (with the legend himself performing vocals). It was a great way to end my streak of having seen them 4 times in less than a year.nnhttp://twitter.com/Trentskers

“Spreading the Word:” http://twitter.com/Nosrohba/status/21452551729 :)nnHonestly, the greatest live I’ve seen was Dir en Grey at the House of Blues (the second night in L.A.) last year during the All Visible Things tour. The setlist was an onslaught, and the band was in peak condition. They began with my favorite live song, Obscure, and continued throughout the night playing classic after classic. I made it to the very front, the rail right in front of Kyo, and hung there, headbanging through the encore like it was the last concert I would ever attend. I stared up at him throughout the entire time, head-banged through the rest. They ended with Bottom of the Death Valley and UGLY, two of my favorite “older” songs, and just… they were amazing. After they finished with IIID Empire, another great live song, Kyo leaned over the crowd and I was able to touch him for the first time. He slapped my outstretched hand as he left — I was elated. They’re just… Dir en Grey is the best band I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing live. Their energy, their charisma… they simply WORK, without any needed theatrics, without Kyo speaking directly to the audience. Dir en Grey live has become somewhat of a religious experience. There is no alternative, no substitute, no band that comes even close. After the concert, I got to shake Kyo’s hand and get his signature during the full-band meet and greet afterward. It was a truly phenomenal night.

I have to say this is a tie between the Miyavi live at Club Nokia in June, and a concert I saw last week.
The Miyavi concert was just awesome, no question. It was amazing seeing him live. It was my first time seeing him, and my friend and I got there two hours before door opening, but we thought it was only one hour before–so it worked out well. The live itself was simply fantastic. I loved hearing him sing and play around with Bobo and his keyboardist, and how he spoke English, and how he sprayed water in the crowd (it landed in my eye!) He was very energetic, the crowd was very energetic, and the encore had my favorite song–What a Wonderful World. There were even some people that left before the encore because they thought he wasn’t coming out! Afterwards my parents were really mad it had lasted so long and asked me “Why didn’t you call?” And I was like, “Well, we were in the middle of an amazing rock concert…”
Last week we saw this concert by my brother’s bass teacher, Joe McNally. It was a very small affair in a Science Center in San Diego. The audience was probably 20-30 people max. It was unusual. No vocals. There was a bass, a cello, and various unique instruments like the sitar, something called a Holy Mountain, a tiny violin called a contraband violin, and more. And there were only 5 people on stage, and 1 was not a musician. The music was at turns soothing and utterly discordant. It was always in the same quiet, dark tone; sometimes the instruments seemed to have utterly no relation to each other, and the beats and tunes from each were separate and had no harmony. Othertimes, the instruments would meld, but only for a short while. The man who was not a musician was an artist. He had developed a computer program that let him draw things on the screen while they played, an improv exercise and also a film. Parts of it was like the stuff you see on Windows Media Player, the swirls and colors, and whatnot, but so much cooler. And the best part was when he had this background of a new planet, with strange blue globes in the air and an orange sky, and he would draw the various organic trees and plants. It was absolutely breathtaking. it was like a sci fi story come to life.
And I’m spreading the world on twitter :) and emailing my friends. http://twitter.com/minaiapple

The best live performance I’ve ever attended was seeing Guns and Roses with my Dad for my 16th birthday! Ever since I was 10 I have LOVED Guns and Roses ;) So when he surprised me to go see them for the first time ever in Toronto I was ecstatic! Axel wax amazing and played for three whole hours, even swung on a rope!

The best live performance I’ve attended was this up and coming jrock band called Keshiki. I don’t go to many shows because of lack of resources, but attending that one just blew my mind. Their whole performance was just overwhelming and even though half of the people there didn’t know who they were in the beginning, I’m sure as hell positive they just earned themselves a huge fanbase. Watching them reminded me why we (my friends and I) make music. Not because of fortune, but because of the dire to spread music to people and change their lives somehow because it changed ours. nAfter the concert, in a situation i consider quite lucky, The drummer and bassist were wondering around and we ended up chatting about being on the road and why American food is “big size” Haha :) They were just the most down to earth people, and seemed so genuine.
After the concert, in a situation i consider quite lucky, The drummer and bassist were wondering around and we ended up chatting about being on the road and why American food is “big size” Haha :) They were just the most down to earth people, and seemed so genuine. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. >_> Now if only i can get a one on one chat with Kyo, then i could die happily. :D Hehe! Anywho, dear lacarmina :D I love your blog. u2020 Whatu2019s the best live music performance youu2019ve ever attended, and why? rnIu2019ve attended many concerts in my years of Japanese rock that can be described as none other than u201cawesome.u201d Dir en Grey is a nice, solid band with a broad appeal. I have attended 3 of their live shows and have always had a good time.rnProbably the most uplifting concert experience Iu2019ve ever had from a Japanese Rock band would be the Anime Expo Moi dix Mois concert of July 2009. Part of the appeal was the anticipation and the fact that there was only one concert from this particular artist in this country. Or maybe it was the fact that I waited in line to get my concert pass from the butt-crack of sunrise to ensure that I had the perfect spot. The performance was very darkly inspirational. The synthetic and organic notes emitted from each element (band member) blend together in a wonderful melodic cacaphony that I would probably describe as a rich dark chocolate fondue topped with a sinister, velvety whisper. I never wanted it to end.rnrnu2020 Subscribed to your mailing list.

My best live performance would have to be Paramore, only because it was the only one I’ve been too and the tickets were free. Even though they aren’t my favorite band, the concert was still amazing! And we (My mom and I, she had the free tickets) got there right before Tegan and Sara preformed, so I was happy I got to see them as well. Also, three of my friends were also at the concert, so I got to rock out with them!nnSpreading the word via facebook http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=1388081971

Fantastic! Thanks!
Fantastic! Thanks!
It’s really tough for me to actually pick a best live performance out of the shows I’ve attended. Each live is a new experience for me. Out of all the ones I’ve been to so far, however, there is one I’d like to mention that really impressed me. First off is GLAY, being a band that I’ve only heard of, and rarely listened to, they were having a show for their VERB tour West Hollywood. An old friend of mine won two tickets, so I went with her not having any expectations. Needless to say, everything was wonderful. When I was watching, I couldn’t help joining the crowd from time to time. I didn’t know each bandmember’s name and face that well, but it was the first concert where I was thoroughly impressed. A lot of charisma and power that seemed to unify everyone. Songs and lasting memories from that live were in my head for days. Lives like this, are the type I think are the best.nnu2022I subscribed to your mailing list ^^

My best concert was a free concert of various spanish rock bands i went to. Everyone brought their own chairs and it was in the street. we were on top of our chairs screaming our lungs out. it was so much fun. >.< Spreading the word on FB http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/jubilee.valentin

hmmm looks like my time in Okinawa,Japan isnt gonna be over in time to see the concert on the 8th but i should be home for the one on the 25th. but if i win ill just give them to my lil sis, her Bday is on the 24th
i found it ironic that you take a photo of “do not take a photo” sign.
The best live performance I have been to has got to be the Big Music Fest in Owen Sound, Ontario. It was a really fun time, despite the fact that I forgot sunscreen and got really burnt.

There were 5 different bands at the concert and it was from noon until late at night. I was really looking forward to seeing Hedley and Faber Drive. My favorite part was when I finally made it to the front just as the lead singer of Hedley leaned over the stage and I got to touch him! ヽ(*≧ω≦)ノ
