Ahoy, me hearties! Ye be ready for a jolly announcement? I’ve officially launched a Japanese alt / trend consulting business with my friends: La Carmina & The Pirates. Translating, connecting, coolhunting, arranging for TV crews — we do it all.
As you know, I’ve been working as a TV host and “fixer” (scheduling TV shoots) in Japan for some while. So my First Mate and I decided to set up a proper website to showcase our experience and services. Naomi Rubin is fluent in Japanese and a pro at scheduling/negotiating, making her the ideal mate to steer this ship. Her many talents included designing the handsome Pirate Basil logo!

TOKYO FABRIC STORE: ODAKAYA, SHINJUKU. WHERE TO BUY JAPANESE FAKE EYELASHES, LOLITA ANIME COSPLAY WIGS, FEATHER BOAS, NAIL POLISH.
Odakaya in Shinjuku, Japan is one of my favorite places for sparkly fabric, cosplay wigs, feathered eyelashes — and other life necessities. The first few floors of the building are RuPaul drag race heaven.
Readers often ask me where to buy cheap, flamboyant eyelashes in Tokyo. In Japan, you can get incredible fake lashes for 100 to 400 yen ($1-4) — believe me, the quality matches the $15 ones from Make Up Forever!
† Odakaya has the largest selection of colorful, decadent false eyelashes. The prices range from 100 to 1500 yen.
† Daiso sells long fake lashes for 100 yen, with tiny lash glue tubes included.
† Bodyline in Harajuku has gemmed and feathered lashes at the counter for 100-400 yen.
† Don Quixote also stocks inexpensive lashes. I got my feathered ones at the Shinjuku location.
