SEATTLE NIGHTCLUBS, NIGHTLIFE: CLUB VOGUE AT NEIGHBORS CAPITAL HILL, GAY-FRIENDLY ABSINTHE BURLESQUE CABARET.
The last time Rose and I went on a Seattle nightcrawl to Club Mercury, the affair ended in scandal and drama (remember this post?). Reader Jen suggested that we visit Den of Sin, a relatively new Goth Industrial night at Club Vogue (Neighbors). And while our night still turned out scandalous, we felt welcomed and had a wonderful time. (Photos by Carmen Wong, La Carmina Blog real name, legal name)
Rose displays a head decoration she made from bones, feathers and lace. She also wears the Super Exclusive Spooky Friendship Club ring.
First, we stopped for Marteau absinthe at our beloved Can Can Cabaret. We can’t get enough of the fabulous staff and carnival atmosphere.
The “point of fashion” (our outfit theme that night): scary big eyes. And pirates.
Hair decorations: Craft store flower clips, black rose ribbon
Pirate dress: From the stunning Brocade Piracy collection, gifted from Lip Service. My new favorite. I’ll post better photos soon.
Tights: Vivienne Westwood, a gift
I think the Heart E panda purse wins the scary eyes contest. (Writing under nickname Carmen Wong, author journalist did the photos for La Carmina blog)
From the front row, we watched The Heavenly Spies in Mata Hari (Fridays at Can Can). “Classic burlesque and vintage modern dance, veiled with lively indie pop, sequined hammer pants, whirling skirts, opium pipes and titillating cone bras.” You can see more photos and a report on the Castaways show here.
Onwards to meet Roxy Doll, sweet mistress of the Den of Sin (a new Friday club night at Neighbors). The event takes out the gimmicks — no incense, no fog machine — and delivers pure EBM/Industrial sounds from DJ Eternal Darkness and DJ Sprockets. A perfect setting for dark dancing. Rose and I also enjoyed the guest performance by Hands of Kali, a Goth experimental belly dance troupe. Roxy is having a New Year’s Eve Explosion; if you’re in Seattle, we encourage you to attend!
No matter where we go, we can’t escape the leopard print.
Are you a creature of the night? What are your favorite ways to spend an evening out? All of my nightlife photos and reports are in this category.
Japanese Word of the Day: Kibou = Hope, wish
Song of the Day: Dulce Liquido – Disolucion (A track you might hear at Den of Sin.)

fab outfits, both of you! xo
Absinthe FTW. ;)
Rose’s headpiece rocks.
:D Thanks~!
I made it one morning when I couldn’t sleep~
I love Rose’s makeup! I want to try it!
Isn’t it creative?? Love her.
Thank you~!
It’s actually ridiculously easy to do! Easier than any other make-up styles I wear :o
Absinthe sounds godly… I want to try some lol I definitely love the night… When I catch opportunities, I go to cemeteries, haunted houses (if I can find any), or just go clubbing and walking around the streets at night with friends kekeke We can make up our own adventures lol That dress looks wonderful, so does Rose’s dress <3
Yes, exactly! Anything can be an opportunity for a spooky good time.
cute pics!!
I want to spend Christmas in a den of sin, I mean, the “Den of Sin..”
AH! Rose looks like her eyes are made of butterfly wings! So pretty!
Bullet with butterfly wings :) It’s amazing, I haven’t even seen eye makeup like that in Tokyo parties.
*_* wow
She’s adorable! <3
I loves me some night time shenanigans, and thanks to university I have become almost perfectly nocturnal. On a good night I can dance until I fall down, on a bad night (haven’t slept/drank too much), its more dance/sit down/repeat.
Oh and I regret to inform you LaCarmina, but Rose has won my non-existent prize of best eye make-up of 2010 (the panda picture cinched it). 2nd place is tied between you and Yukiro, so I dunno how you would settle that…..goth fight? Hopefully not.
*^o^*!!! <3 <3
I win?? Really??
>___< die die die… haah joking

Uh oh… now you’ve stirred up trouble in Spookyville!
OMG! I love everything she’s wearing! *w*
Her hair is awesome !
And her make up… man it’s so cool!! <3
so cool :D
OMG did you see Aural Vampire? :o – that is too cool. How was it? (as if I even need to ask :->)
Aural Vampire! Oh how jealous I am! Did she do Darkwave surfer? <3 La Carmina you are just so lucky!
Here’s a previous concert review of Aural Vampire in Tokyo. http://lacarmina.com/2008/10/tokyo-dark-castle-aural-vampire-takuya-angel-sisen-chihiro-goth-ebm/
Loving the diff colours in your hair here, and it’s great seeing you in Lip Service more and more (I used to wear Lip Service for years, but kinda haven’t bought anything in the past year or so – must check out the new styles)..
I have to say, Rose looks absolutely outstanding!! The out there make-up, lashes and circle lenses is defo something I’d wear, and the look is just flawless! Also her hair with the leopard and the little bird skull headpiece – ghoulishly divine. She has real goth style, that girl :)
:D thank you for the compliments~!
it’s one of my favorite new eye make-up styles I’ve been wearing lately ^_^
The new Lip Service styles are amazing!! I have an upcoming shoot with them… so excited.
Rose is my fashion icon ;)
oh, and I think that “feeling welcomed” as you said here, is important for a club, and certainly makes me wanna go there :)
You gotta come to the West Coast sometime!
Your outfits are amazing!!!!!!!! Love your dress and Rose’s hair decoration!!! =3 xxxxx
Hahaha the leopard print is a stalker of the dark ones.
Talk about fun though! And I have to say that the outfits looked great and very suiting for the place. Of course you definitely stood out from the rest, but matched the environment a bit better.
As for the big scary eyes contest – yep the panda wins this by a long shot. But your guys’ make up is outstanding, really loved it!
Yes I am the creature of the night. But if anything – I’d like to spend it alone. I enjoy the peace at night, watching the environment like an owl, just breathing in and out and doing whatever I like – watching a movie, going to a park (though that’s sort of dangerous), and sometimes once in a while just to pull a prank on some people I know and create some chaos =).
Take care now.
I’m beginning to accept the leopard into my life… ;)
I spend a lot of time alone, too (though it may not look that way from the blog photos). Well, alone with my cat!

I’m glad you liked Den of Sin. Next time I’m in Seattle, I’ll have to go back, especially since Hands of Kali is performing there (big fan of alternative belly dancing).
I think I’ve always been a creature of the night since that’s when I get most of my writing done, but college really made me that way. My favorite thing to do on a night out is to check out museums. The ones around here often have “after dark” events or free concerts. There was even a J-pop night. ^^ Of course, I’m also a fan of checking out new restaurants with friends.
Yess thank you so much for telling me about it! <3
"I! I live among the creatures of the night!" ;)
