GOTHLOLI OF THE WEEK #76: JOHANNA.
† Name: Johanna Daily AKA Exquisite Corpse
† Age: 24
† Location: Panama City, Panama
† How were you introduced to Gothic Lolita fashion?
Well about 4 or 5 years ago when I started investigating about diverse goth fashions, I found this lovely fashion style called Gothic Lolita. I fell so in love with that look that I investigated more about it, I started understanding where and when was this born, how this was just not only Japanese fashion, but also a subculture, a way of life. I have been most of my time since I embraced my love for Goth subculture dressing with so many of the style branches in the subculture. Lolita is just one of the ones I have most fun with, since I also have some sort of fanatism for Renaissance period, Rococo, Victorian and Romanticism. The other aspect I adore about the Lolita World is the elegance, the manners, the femmenism, the creativity, the taste in literature, this is a subculture so filled with ART with aesthetic.
† What do you find appealing about GL style and culture?
The historic influence over the whole scene, the way that in the crazy world we live in today there are people that have manners, grace, inteligence, creativity and passion. Besides I just love the way this has evolved and nowadays you see so many Lolita fashion branches, it’s incredible.
† What are your favorite GL clothing brands?
h. Naoto, Moi-meme-Moitie, BlaBlaHospital, Putumayo, Black Peace Now, Antique Beast, Alice Auaa.
† Any other comments (inspiration, tips, favorites)?
“If I’d observed all the rules, I’d never gotten anywhere.” (Marilyn Monroe)
“We are all mad.” (the cat from Alice in Wonderland)
“I’ve always been more comfortable making my decisions from the subconscious level, or more emotionally, because I find it is more truthful to me. Intellectually, I don’t think like that because I get uncomfortable. I’m more wary of my intellectual mind, of becoming delusional if I think of it too much.” (Tim Burton)
Film of the Week #24: Dracula – Dead and Loving It (Mel Brooks, Leslie Nielsen) I must have watched this a hundred times when I was a kid. A hilarious spoof on the vampire genre… and the world’s most evil laugh!
