VALENTINE’S DAY DIY: LOLITA RIBBON HAIR ACCESSORY, MOI-MEME-MOITIE DRESS.
Basil Farrow and I got a box of Purdy’s dark chocolates for Valentine’s Day. However, we were more interested in the ribbon and key that held the wrapping paper together! Most people would throw away the decoration, but we turned it into two ribbon hair accessories.
The look is inspired by Innocent World’s cameo and bow. I found two plastic hair combs at a drugstore for $2, tied a bow and strung the ribbon through each, and sewed it in place. A photo from the April 2007 edition of Zipper Magazine gave me an asymmetrical hairdo idea.
Et voila. Photo by Rony’s Photobooth, taken at Glory Days Valentine’s party featuring DJ Skeet Skeet.
Dress: Moi-meme-Moitie by Mana Sama (one of my best finds from Closet Child Harajuku)
Makeup: Aromaleigh “I See Red” and “Vive Le Rock” from the Rocks! Sonic Eyes collection
Playing card stickers: from Tokyu Hands, Shibuya.
Reader Appreciation Week has come to a close. My round, foldy-eared son will now pick the contest winners, so check back to see if you won!
Song of the Day #48: Malice Mizer – Illuminati (one of my all-time favorites)

Ernest question: Did you use a stencil to draw the poker designs? They look so neat!
The subtle shading around the eyes is ingenious!
Very different from your usual style and very, very cute, with a very sexy kind of innocence I think.. :)
That dress looks fantastic on you!
I looooveeee the key-bow. So classy and pretty. >w< I love your makeup in this too.

No I didn’t read — I skimmed. Yaks. :p
Thanks for pointing that out. :)
I thought Carmina painted them herself because Emilie Autumn is always painting neat heart-shapes on her face, and I’ve always wondered how she does that. Have been thinking that Aromaleigh should carry an EA stencil series…
Wow!? Beautiful outfit! The ribbon looks beautiful in your hair. The poker designs – love them! Did you do them yourself or did someone do them for you?
Very creative. Love it.

Cute (the bow and your look)! And I would make a necklace with the key…
Oh, and I was going to ask this on the last post but didn't, so I'll ask here as you may be more likely to respond:
In the last entry you quoted [maybe quoted isn't the right word?] David Marx, “W. David Marx adds that the Western media often confuses “hime gyaru” of the Koakuma Ageha stripe, “princess-y” Oneekei girls from Ray and CanCam, and hime-esque gothloli.”
Did you find this in a blog entry of his, or did it just come up in conversation? I'm interested to know more about the difference.
Oh, and are there any other books like Macias's/Ever's Schoolgirl Inferno? Most books about Japanese fashion seem to be just pictures (from what I've seen so far). But perhaps there really isn't that much to say about, things just are that way because they are? Hm….
Ohh a necklace! Great idea. The key could work as a pendant.
The words I quoted are from his comment in this blog entry: http://lacarmina.com/2009/02/hime-kei-…
He links to a Japanese fashion site that explains the distinction in more detail. :)
