† How were you introduced to Gothic Lolita fashion?
I had a lot of friends who were into the Japanese pop culture scene and one of them wanted to show me this “cool weird book of fashion” that he had picked up. So he pointed at a Gothic Lolita spread in the book and said: “That is so you, Maria!” And yeah, it truly was. That’s almost 10 years ago.
† What do you find appealing about GL style and culture?
I love the silhouette the most, the slender torso and the poof of doom below the waist. I also love the many different expressions. You can be just as extrovert or discreet as you wish and still fit under the same umbrella of a style. The culture itself, at least here in the Western world, is not really much of a culture to talk about – YET. It’s still in it’s starter phase but with it’s increasing popularity it will form itself, all in good time.
† What are your favorite GL clothing brands?
Metamorphose because it was my very first encounter with an established lolita brand. Innocent World because they have the most versatile pieces that appeal to my taste and never ever have they been disappointing when it comes to quality and craftmanship. Juliette et Justine because they make clothes for the decadent, elegant countess within me that is just dying to get out.
† Any other comments (inspiration, tips, favorites)?
My favourite quotes/mottos: “Make it work!” “Never underestimate the offbrand.” “People wouldn’t care as much about what other people think about them if they knew how seldom they do.” My blog has translated snippets in each entry now. And for you Swedes, don’t forget to register at the new and improved forum!
Film of the Week #32: A Clockwork Orange (Malcolm McDowell, dir. Stanley Kubrick). I watched this for the first time in a few years and my head’s now swimming in Nadsat (the addictive slang spoken by Little Alex and his droogs). My favorite line: “Who’s that fella sitting in the sofa munchy-wunching lomticks of toast?” His pet snake is named… Basil! And I am giddy over the Beethoven synth soundtrack, the bowler hat and codpiece costumes, the hentai cat lady, the “yessss?” and “right right right”… O my brothers, thou must viddy this horrorshow picture.

I was considering watching this movie, but my fear of rape has stopped me thusfar. (and I haven't read the book)

That is my favorite movie of all time! Well, I love anything by Stanley Kubrick, but this one's my definite fave. It's dark, it's thought provoking, and all those other happy good things wrapped into one package. Oh! I love that uppity prison guard who stomps his feet and salutes like a loon. Good schtuff right there. It's also fun to dress up in a similar fashion droogie during for Halloween! Try it sometime!

I think you should read A Clockwork Orage because you get SO MUCH more of the language… it is super addicting. When I read it the frist time… I could not stop adding the words to my vocab.
