FRANCE JAPAN TRAVEL TV SHOW, FILMING AT DON QUIJOTE, SHINJUKU DISCOUNT DOLLAR STORE. CAT NEKO COSPLAY.
It’s true… travel TV hosting and arranging is the best job in the world. You get to be your silly self, bring in your friends, and showcase alternative culture in (what I hope is) a positive light, to a multitude of viewers.
Merci to everyone who wrote to me after seeing my Canal + France documentary, Toque de Tokyo — I’m glad you were enticed by our spooky world. On the last night of filming, the TV crew met up with me, Comte de Sang, Yukiro Dravarious, and Naomi (First Mate of the Pirate Ship) at Don Quijote, the famous Japanese discount chain store.
Despite weeks of shooting on a tight schedule, Antoine de Caunes was dressed up and ready to rock. He’s a prominent TV presenter and actor in France, perhaps best known for the BBC late-night program Eurotrash.
My makeup is inspired by my Scottish Fold cat, Basil Farrow. I wore feather eyelashes and gold eyeshadow, drew on a brown nose and W-mouth, and added a kitty sticker.
Who says Goths can’t be colorful?
Floral Lolita dress: h.NAOTO Frill, from Closet Child
Leather studded corset: Bed Behavior in Hollywood
White bunny purse: Innocent World
Kitty hair clips: gifted from Komodokat
Naomi sewed the orange ring-collar herself. The original Sebastian and Vincent stopped by to say bonjour to Antoine.
We had made arrangements with “Donki” (the store) — so we used the opportunity to run around and be crazy! My friends and I grabbed giant orange hammers and chased each other through the cramped aisles. The shocked reactions of the customers were priceless.
Wigs and vibrators are recurrent themes in our escapades. Have you seen the drag queen film, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert? Our lives are eerily similar (as you know from our YouTube videos)…
Antoine de Caunes is a fantastic sport. He went along with all of our nutty antics.
Someone looks a little too happy to be tortured.
After we ravaged Don Quijote, we took the French TV crew to Tokyo Decadance for the grand finale. Photos and video clips coming right up.
So many exciting projects are happening in December and January! I’ll let you know what’s going on as soon as I can…
Have you visited Don Quijote or a Japanese dollar store? They’re the greatest places on Earth.
Japanese Word of the Day: Shouganai = It can’t be helped
Song of the Day: Rebecca – Vanity Angel (1980s Japan pop power. As Yukiro says, “The dance is so random and amazing.”

Your merry band of pirates are always having a good time. :)
I didn’t know Basil’s influence was so great. He even made his way into your makeup!
Basil Farrow is the king of us all… he’s making his way into a magazine cover too!!
Tu as d’autres projets pour la télévision?
Oui ;)
your life is so cool. i want.
that store is great….when james and i went to japan he literally walked out with 2 huge bags. when we got back to my aunts house she started laughing and said he looked like santa clause, asking how the hell he could buy so much at the dollar store! o_O
Hahah that’s awesome! I love the doll eyelashes, cheap little nailpolish, costumes and various doo-dads… we also picked up spiced rum hhoho
hahha was the rum any good??
It was Captain Morgan arrrrr! OR was it… haha
By the way — you’re in LA around N Years???? ADVENTURE TIME.
Oh when I did the Jem and the Hologram cosplay attempt ~^^
“someone likes being tortured a little too much” hahahahaa
Muahaha. Wait til you see our evil queen video… there’s so much torture there!
cant wait!!!
Yay!!!
:3
AWESOME! How can you not have fun going around a store and creating loads of chaos hahaha! Of course it’s best not to be along while doing so.
Although it may be amusing to you, when the customers/store managers see you and give you the awkward look or the other look of “GTFO” – depending on your tolerance of other people’s comments toward you…you’d either feel awkward, embarrassed, or nothing. But with friends – you just have loads of fun hahahaha!
It’s a lark for the dark.
And I love your makeup here – as with everyone else’s. The feathers under the eyelids truly are something. Though I have to confess I did sort of chuckle when viewing those photos. I mean as a person with a wild imagination – I tend to not just take a look at the picture but rather what happened before and what happens directly after the shot. I even accompany what the dialogue may have been and so on.
But in this case – I can’t help but think of you all holding hands skipping through the store and singing in joyous celebration: “WE’RE OFF TO SEE THE WIZARD THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ…WE HEAR HE’S A WHIZ OF A WIZ IF EVER A WIZ THERE WAS!” LOL. An even crazier addition would be Antoine chilling out with Mr. Beans as you rampage through and out the store HAHA.
Oh boy this is why I love you, your friends, your adventures, and blog!
Oh I’m sorry –
BECAUSE BECAUSE BECAUSE BECAUSE BECAUSE BECAUSE!
“along” in the 2nd sentence is meant to be “alone.”
Hahah it’s so much fun. And we had the perfect excuse.. we’re working! It’s for TV!!
:D
I do like it, but I think it’s more cosplay than gothic lolita.
hopefully u didnt knock anything over in the cramped space lol
>_< We almost knocked a few people over at Donki…
but dq has a pretty cool costume section
Hahaha awesome! <3 Wish I could've been there!
I've been to the Daiso here…it's fun but it's a pretty small location (average mall store).
Yukiro = totally outrageous!
P.S. Love your corset!
Rainbow goths!!! LOL. I love that term. ;)
hehehe yeah! I just thought of it…
Hmm, I usually buy useless things in such stores xD As I can see from the photos is that the japanese dollar stores are nothing compared to the dutch ones… In my town is a chinese dollar store where bought a cheap Rubiks cube replica. I’m going to make a necklace of it or something like that. Further, I like to buy little girls jewelrymaking sets. Because the plastic beads are very neon like coloured. So I have found glow in the dark animal beads and pink beads which turn violet in blacklight!!
Hahah wait til you see Daiso… Donki isn’t really a Japanese dollar store (it’s more of a discount everything store)
love you and your friends. heh
xoxo
Don Quixote sells the weirdest stuff doesn’t it?
…^o^….
what fucking douchebags
