† Name: VisualKei_loli_Cloud/Hikari
† Age: 15
† Location: Freiburg, Baden Württemberg, Germany.
† How were you introduced to Gothic Lolita fashion?
That would be around four years ago, the time when I fell in love with Visual Kei.
† What do you find appealing about GL style and culture?
It is a classical, elegant, sweet, cute and also cryptic style. It’s a special Style; not every one is walking around like that. (It’s pretty rare back here in Freiburg). I just love to be different, I love to have a different style. With this style and this culture I just can be who I really am.
† What are your favorite GL clothing brands?
I don’t really have any. But I like Moi meme Moitie, Peace Now and Sex Pot. Even though I make some of my clothes by myself^^
† Any other comments (inspiration, tips, favorites)?
Be who you are and stay true to your style =^.^=
Dark lovely greetings, Cloud/Hikari

The Bride Wore Black, new wave french film directed by Francois Truffaut, starring Jeanne Moreau, Michel Bouquet, Jean-Claude Brialy, Charles Denner, Claude Rich

Film of the Week #37: The Bride Wore Black (Directed by Francois Truffaut, starring Jeanne Moreau). I saw the first half of this on Turner Classic Movies and was transfixed. A French New Wave noir, reminiscent of Hitchcock: Moreau plays a bride out to avenge her husband, killed moments after they were wed. Her clever and calculating moves are a pleasure to observe.

† Name: Puck
† Age: 25 and loving it.
† Location: Ikebukuro, Tokyo, Japan, but I’m originally from Plymouth, Michigan in the United States.
† How were you introduced to Gothic Lolita fashion?
In 2005 I did a summer study program in Shiga Prefecture. One of my favorite weekend activities was taking the train to Osaka and taking it all in. My then boyfriend said he’d seen a store and thought it would be something I’d love. Turns out it was Body Line at Namba stations and I did love it. I bought an outfit right then and started my collection. So I guess that’s when I started, but I’ve always liked similar styles.
† What do you find appealing about GL style and culture?
I love elaborate costuming of almost any sort. When I was a child I used to dress up for no reason and still love to do that as an adult. I love that Gothic Lolita has the frills and pretty characteristics of Lolita fashion but is still dark and mysterious. I don’t think you’ll ever see me in a pink Sweet Lolita outfit, although I am thinking about making a dark red Gothic Lolita dress.

† What are your favorite GL clothing brands?
I don’t really have any favorite brands because I just look for quality and the particular styles I like. And if I can’t find something I’d prefer to make it myself. But I suppose I should say I am a super fan of Body Line because they got me started, although I haven’t been to the store in Harajuku yet–I keep going to the one in Namba! That particular store will always have a soft spot in my heart. And my coat is BTSSB, but it’s the first piece I have from them.
† Any other comments (inspiration, tips, favorites)?
Even though I personally prefer to wear the more classic Gothic Lolita look, nobody should be afraid to experiment! It’s all about how you feel and what you want it to be. If it’s not 100% true to the classic style, who cares so long as you feel like a rockstar wearing it!

Rampo Noir, DVD cover and movie poster, J-horror film based on Edogawa Rampo scarry horror stories, Japanese cinematography new wave Asia extreme movies, Tadanobu Asano, Directed by Akio Jissoji, Atsushi Kaneko, Hisayasu Sato, Suguru Takeuchi

Film of the Week #36: Rampo Noir (Directed by Akio Jissoji, Atsushi Kaneko, Hisayasu Sato, Suguru Takeuchi). How I love J-horror (check out my CNNGo article about my top ten Asia extreme films). Rampo Noir consists of four shorts based on stories by the Japanese master of disturbia, Edogawa Rampo. You’ll be torn between watching the gorgeous cinematography and hiding your eyes from the barefaced sadism, the mirror torture, the crawling bugs. One of my very first blog posts was a review of Rampo’s stories
