GOTHLOLI OF THE WEEK #81: MOON. FILM OF THE WEEK: DAVID LYNCH'S WILD AT HEART, NICHOLAS CAGE & LAURA DERN.
† Name: Joanne (-MOON- 月)
† Age: 21
† Location: Lima, Perú
† How were you introduced to Gothic Lolita fashion?
Some years ago I fell in love with the Imai Kira’s illustrations and discovered Angelic Pretty.
† What do you find appealing about GL style and culture?
For me, Lolita is rebellion. This is my favorite part of this.
† What are your favorite GL clothing brands?
Angelic Pretty, Emily Temple Cute (not loli but I love it!), Putumayo, BabySSB, Metamorphose, SEXPOT Revenge.
† Any other comments (inspiration, tips, favorites)?
Thank you for put me in your web! Please fell free to add me at Mixi or Pupe ^^ (and if your know Spanish add me to my LiveJournal). And remember: have fun and be happy!
Film of the Week #31: Wild at Heart (Nicholas Cage, Laura Dern, dir. David Lynch). My favorite Lynch film. If you love the dark and surreal humor of, say, Death Cookbook, then you will fall for the doomed lovers Sailor and Peanut. Wikipedia describes Wild at Heart as “a road movie [that] includes bizarre, almost supernatural events and off-kilter violence with sometimes overtly heavy allusions to The Wizard of Oz and strong references to Elvis Presley.” Cage’s best line: “This is a snakeskin jacket! And for me it’s a symbol of my individuality, and my belief… in personal freedom.”

GOTHLOLI OF THE WEEK #80: MOLLY. FILM OF WEEK IS CHAN-WOOK PARK'S THIRST, A BLOODY VAMPIRE FLICK FROM DIRECTOR OF OLDBOY.
† Name: Molly
† Age: 20
† Location: Middle of nowhere Kansas, USA
† How were you introduced to Gothic Lolita fashion?
Very stereotypically I found Lolita through anime conventions when I was about 15 although I did not fully adopt the style until I was 18.
† What do you find appealing about GL style and culture?
Every time I see new photos the style inspires me all over again! It’s hard to say what it is I find so appealing but it always draws me in. It probably helps that I love hobbies that many tend to associate with the fashion such as baking and sewing.
† What are your favorite GL clothing brands?
Baby the Stars Shine Bright probably takes up 80% of my closet ^^;
† Any other comments (inspiration, tips, favorites)?
There is a lot of negativity online especially associated with outfit critique for girls that are new to the fashion and I hope they are learning not to let that stop them. If someone cannot find a nice online community it should not stop them from wearing something they love :)
Film of the Week #30: Thirst (dir. Chan-Wook Park). Korean director Chan-Wook Park ranks among my absolute favorites; the Vengeance trilogy is phenomenal (especially Oldboy). In Thirst, he tackles the vampire horror genre and reviewers are calling it bloody perfection. I’m so keen to see Thirst that I might drive to one of the select US cities that’s screening it…
