Hello Kitty hell… or heaven? Sunshine City in Ikebukuro is one of the best places in Tokyo to buy cute character goods (see photos of kawaii stores in this post.) The Sanrio store within has a huge selection of “grown-up” designer Hello Kitty accessories and toys.
I can’t keep up with the latest Sanrio characters… anyone know the name of the rabbit?
In the central atrium, Ikebukuro Sunshine City was hosting a Sanrio event for kids (and adults)…
… ominously called Power of Characters!
You could grab a gift bag, or pick up a Hello Kitty charm for your cell phone.
There were various festival-style games for youngsters, including a “fish the Kitty out of the water” and this bizarre playpen.
This looks a lot like a casino for kids…

OH GOD!!!!!! … OH GODS AND GODDESSES!!! HOLY COW – I think I’m about to explode over this hahaha!!!! Where’s my Badtz Maru? Where is he? Where is that little fel- THERE HE IS!!! OH I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!! As a guy I have to say I have a creepy fascination with stuffed toys. They’re just so lovable and I can never let go of them. They’d automatically take the best friend position!That little bunny you see there is U*SA*HA*NA!!!! Or at least…I think she is…U*SA*HA*NA is usually colorful…hmm…and that bunny doesn’t have a bow. Either way U*SA*HA*NA Such a cute little girl!!! OH I LOVE THEM ALL SO MUCH!But Badtz Maru – he’s a BADASS – he’s the BOMB…he OWNS EVERYONE! He’s like comparable to that guy in a movie who doesn’t speak a word, but later on just KICKS SOME ASS or says one PHRASE that CHANGES EVERYTHING!!! I LOVE HIM!!! I love so many though! I love Badtz Maru, TuxedoSam (another funny little penguin!), SHINKANSEN (who the hell doesn’t love friendly transportation to wonderland/fantasy land), Sugarbunnies, Sugarminuet, Chibimaru, Kuririn,…umm…those twin stars (I forget what they were called), oh they’re called “Little twins stars” Pochacco!!! (a classic), Pekkle, Pandapple!, Cinamoroll, and Landry.I DON’T LIKE THE MONKEYS! -_-, I always get a suspicious feeling from them…they’re always up to something!NOW…I always had…and still sort of do…have a crush on My Melody, of course now there is her counterpart – KUROMI!!! *DUN DUN DUNNNNN* I’m torn apart between the two ^o^!Yep…I love them all. I have to visit Sanrio Puroland one day, despite how girly it might by, and despite how kiddish it might me. Well I guess I’ll just have to have a daughter one day to give a reason as to why I’m there hehehe! I can never get rid of the child within me, and pray that I NEVER WILL.
As for Hello Kitty…she’s alright…however her majesty has to understand I just love her friends a whole lot more! “You can never have too many friends!”
Badtz and Kuromi are the bad kids of Sanrio – love em. Oh I forgot about Shinkansen! Probably the most random character in there.
Puroland is a must-visit… it’s not an entirely pleasant experience but it’s one you will never forget. :)
