KAYA VISUAL KEI MAKEUP TUTORIAL, H.NAOTO FRILL DRESS AT IKEBUKURO BLACK HOLE. HOW TO BUY JROCK VISUAL KEI CONCERT TICKETS IN JAPAN.
How does one buy J-rock and Visual Kei concert tickets in Japan? The system is insanely complicated: fan club members often get the first batch, and instead of a Tickermaster-like site, one must brave the frustrating Japanese-only ticket vending machines at the Lawson convenience store…
Once you have the tickets in your hand, there’s still the matter of finding the venue. We circled all over Ikebukuro before being sucked into Black Hole, where Kaya’s band Kaleidoscope was headlining.
Dress: h.NAOTO Frill, from Closet Child
Green “belt”: actually a very long stocking, gifted from Sock Dreams
Crucifix headband: actually a cloth choker, gifted from Limebarb (do you sense a theme here?)
Yellow boots: John Fluevog
Rings: from various little Japanese stores
My makeup is inspired by Kaya’s “Last Snow” album cover. Whenever I need inspiration, I find it helpful to look at Visual Kei faces and try out some of their techniques.
I experimented with a rounder lip shape and filled it in with little green and purple eye liner pencils. Like Kaya, I extended the eyeshadow past the inner crease of my eye. I added magenta at the top outer corner to make the colors pop.
Yukiro can’t remember where he got his clothes, but they fit him like a glove! (I’ll post a video tomorrow with our usual “what am I wearing” segment.”)
Visual Kei bands Lix, Keith and Thomas were also on the bill, but Kaya’s band Kaleidoscope tore down the live house. There will be concert footage in the next post, so you can see Kaya’s manly look and hear his glorious voice!
Like at many J-rock concert venues, the stage is on the lower level, and the staircase is lined with pretty Visual Kei posters.
We traded in our drink ticket and flipped through the Visual Kei flyers and magazines, and waited for the former Schwarz Stein vocalist to take the stage… Come back tomorrow for a full review and VIDEO footage of Kaya live!
Are you a Kaya fan? Did you see him perform during his North American tour?

OHH not as annoying as having to reserve over the internet and you HAVE to have a Japanese address AND a Japanese credit card to reserve at some of the ticket locations. LOL…And don’t forget, depending on how, and when you bought your ticket depends on WHEN you can enter the venue. Lets just say if you bought your ticket day of the show from the venue…your going in LAST! omg…soo annoying!!! So far I have experienced all of this in Japan. Someone should write a manual… :-P
YES the “number” system for who gets to go in first is annoying… BUT at least people don’t have to camp outside the venue overnight, as they do in North America… I guess there’s pros and cons…
There are some shows that Lawsons do not have and you have to go through a different company. But yes i do agree that the number system can be a good and bad and you don’t have to camp out but you do have to wait a long time to get in if your going to a larger show.. Like Akasaka Blitz.
I my Japanese is OK, and I have problems with the wonderful Lawsons machines…lol. Taht reminds me.. I need to get my tickets for Penicillin and ゴールデンボンバー he he he
kaya is a true performer<3<3
The video turned out really well! I’ll post it tomorrow xo

The Lawson machines arent that bad. I was able to buy tickets for any show I wanted to see when I was living in Tokyo and I do not even read or speak much Japanese
wahhh? We wanted to kill the ticket machines! :P
I take it you do not speak or read much Japanese? I never had a problem buying tickets myself to any venue. I went to Loudpark, Summersonic, Machine Head, and other shows no problems without much Japanese. Guess I got lucky.
Hahah Yukiro is very good at Japanese! Maybe we’re not very good with Mr. Roboto
Well I am a computer engineer after all. Could be why I can figure out the machines easily.
that could be.. usually I can figure out things pretty easily. Lawsons was a good challenge. :-P
Ah yes, Good times in Japan trying to figure out stuff. Thats why I moved back to an English speaking country after three years of living in Tokyo.
I wish I KNEW about his North American tour! D:

Kaya is one of the best performers out there, I think. I never got tired of his lives. He just got better and better each time I saw him. I adore that man beyond words. Kaya love!♥
oohhh, you look so pretty la carmina. i love your color block lip duo and those cheery patent leather-looking yellow boots with the cool buckles. such a nice multi-hued manicure too. your complexion looks flawless. i’d love to see a video tutorial on your blog, regarding how to get this kind of flawless and poreless look. and also how you apply your eye makeup.
Make Up Forever Professional HD foundation and powder! And a great camera with no flash, hahaa. (Canon Powershot S90, in my case.) We filmed a makeup video… it’ll come up soon!

Hi lacarmina. Just wondering if you can eat/drink with eyeliner as lipstick. I’ve been wanting to try it out, but am afraid it will be toxic.
Ohh that is a great question! I never thought about it… oops. I assume that the eyes are as (or MORE) sensitive than the mouth/stomach, and the amount on your lips is small — so it should be ok.
